The International Osteoporosis Academy (IOA) is a non-profit association which was founded in Austria in 2009, where it is located. The activities of the present pilot phase stretch across Austria, Germany and Switzerland. From 2011, the IOA will be expanded to further European countries.

The International Osteoporosis Academy(IOA) is aimed at facilitating sound information for patients which is based on the latest scientific findings. 

Experts are working on an interdisciplinary and cross-border basis towards developing a new model of training for patients.

In addition to the training of patients, the IOA offers the opportunity to do a certified professional further qualification to become an osteoporosis counsellor.
